AIRPARK RESIDENTS FIRE SAFETY GROUP INFO

Mabel Lake Airpark Fire Safety Newsletter

Welcome back to another summer season at Mabel Lake.

First and foremost, there currently is a ban on: - Burning any waste, slash or other material - Burning stubble or grass - the use of fireworks or burning barrels of any size or description
The open fire ban started June 15, 2011 and continues until October 15, 2011

We have new fire hoses with newer technology that does not require them to be dried out after use. It is imperative that the hoses are to be used only for fire fighting, not any other miscellaneous tasks, some have gone missing – they simply are for one use only.

We would like to thank Darren Clark who facilitated the updated fire hoses we now have. We would also like to thank the Laursen’s for the fire truck and fire house which are available for our use.

We would ask everyone for $100 for the Mabel Lake Airpark Fire Safety fund, we are not a strata and do not have any funds allocated to fire safety, it is up to us to be as prepared as we can for a situation we hope never happens. Be prepared is our greatest defence. Thank you to those of you who have paid.

We will have a fire information meeting mid summer, the more we are prepared the better the outcome.

Mabel Lake Airpark Residents:

We have started an airpark fire safety group with the intention of keeping everyone informed and aware of what to do in the event of a fire in the airpark. We are not a volunteer fire department or fire brigade, simply a "best efforts" group of like minded owners.

We will have procedures listed inside the fire boxes (4 in all, one being built) along with the fire hose and connectors. The stand pipes and fire boxes are located on Lots 3, 19, 32 & 41. (area map can be downloaded from www.mabellakeresort.com under site map – the resort & golf course site plan) It is our intention to have a practice each year so residents can stay current in the event of a fire.

We also need everyone to assist with fire prevention in that yards need to be clear of any shrubs, underbrush, deadfall, any combustibles that a fire could grow on. For more information check
www.partnersinprotection.ab.ca
or www.bcwildfire.ca

• Each household should have a pipe wrench for disconnecting the stand pipe cap
• Each household should have a clear display of their lot number
• Each household should have an air horn in the event the fire truck siren is disabled

We are asking everyone in the airpark for $100.00 to buy fire hose, connectors, build another fire box and to have an emergency fund for any future expenditures. Cheques are to be made payable to Airpark Fire Safety and sent to #7 - 3525 Mabel Lake Road, Enderby, BC V0E 1V5.

We would like to restart our Airpark Directory created by Lana Staroszik, we need everyone's permission to have their information shared, lot number, name, address, email and phone number(s).
Please respond to Lana directly at: lana.star@rogcolaw.com
